Hi everybody

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000.

For a few weeks my CPU is a bit slower, the sound from any kind of source is worse than before, cutting sometimes, or going reaaally slow.

In the same time appeared something else : when I start the computer I have a black screen with "check media [fail]" appearing during a few seconds.

Thank you very much for your help!

XPS8900 Top Audio Out Jack Not Working

I'm running a Dell U3415W monitor connected via HDMI, using the monitor speakers.  When I plug headphones into the top audio jack, a notification pops up informing me I have done so, but no sound comes from the headphones and the monitor speakers continue to play.  If I do the same thing using the rear audio output, the monitor speakers cut off and audio is routed to the headphones.  This worked on my XPS8300.  What am I doing wrong?

FOUND SPEAKERS! Can't make work

I have a 2008 Inspiron 5118. At the time of the purchase a friend hooked me up with some really nice PC speakers, so apparently I hid the four Dell speakers in a drawer in the attic and forgot about hem. I found them today and am trying to hook up to an old Compaq but can't figure out how they work. There is no power plug for any of them or power adapter inlet on any of them and they do not connect together in any way. They just seem odd in configuration, but IU would sure like to use them at work. . ANY help at all determining how to make them useful would be much appreciated.

Sound Card Latency + RANT

$

I just bought a brand spanking new Dell XPS 8900.  My intention is to use it to record realtime audio via a Line 6 UX2, a software driver sound processor specifically for recording).   When i tried it initially there was a delay in the sound creation and the sound coming from the speaker.    I called Dell support, got shuffled around a bit, and found someone who solved the problem by repeatedly installing the Sountec Drivers.    Well, for some reason, (I suspect perhaps a Windows Update??),  when I tried it there was no sound coming from the UX2.  I had to reinstall the drivers for the UX2 and I heard sound but the latency was back.   I spent 2 hours on the phone with Dell support.  I spoke to 5 or 6 different techs who seemed to only want to transfer me from hardward to software support and back again.  The previous time that I got this solved was not nearly as painful.  I was told that my NEW Dell Computer was not covered for this type of issue and that I would have to purchase additional services to get it repaired.  I refused.  I have seen this issue mentioned many times in this and other forums so it is not specific to me.  AND, one tech that I spoke to for the original call WAS able to get it working properly.  Can anyone help?

<RANT>   I have purchased 6 dell desktops over the last 15 or so years.  This will be the last one.  The service is non-existent and the techs seemed content to just transfer me to someone else.  No one took ownership of my issue.  When I complained to a supervisor her offered me a discount on the maintenance agreement he was tryinng to seel me!!!  As far as I am concerned, these offshore support techs should be told that THEY REPRESENT DELL to the customer!!!  I am so frustrated by this experience that I would love to take this desktop machine and drop it on their doorstep!  I  guess I am going to have to go to a MAC if I ever want a machine that does more than Youtube videos and MS Office.   </RANT>

I have a problem with my internal sound card on a Dell 3847. I have no sound. It says the nothing there. I tried to install a new Creative sound blaster internal card. Loaded all the drivers still nothing shows up in the sound folder. I also tried loading the Dell drivers for the Dell's sound card still nothing. I have speakers that work tried and tested. Any ideas how to get either sound card to work?

XPS8700 thinks earbuds are microphone

Hello,

Windows 10, XPS 8700, i7 core duo 3.6 Ghz, all stock except 32GB RAM.

Trying to use both a Playstation 4 "headset' (1 earbud with a microphone on the cable) and iPhone earbuds (2 earbuds with microphone). The computer auto detects when I plug in to both the front microphone jack and the rear pink microphone jack. However, it does not accept input from the microphone. The earbuds themselves work as really poor microphones. That is, I can speak into the microphone on the earbud wire, and the computer cannot hear it. But if I speak directly into the earbud speaker, then it can hear me. Obviously, I want the earbud in my ear to hear people, and the microphone to hear my voice, so they can hear me. I also had to fiddle with the audio playback settings and turn the microphone setting to +30dB. Which it shouldn't need.

I hope this is clear, if not, please ask for more info, and I will try my best.

Thanks for any help.

Dell Inspiron 660 Sound Issues (Issue Resolved)

(Issue has been resolved)

I have an Inspiron 660 desktop that I bought about 3.5 years ago. I updated to Windows 10 and have recently started using a Dell U2415 UltraSharp Monitor. The sound bar was working well with the new monitor and desktop until about a week ago I noticed the sound started getting low, then completely out, then came back on like normal.  It worked fine for the last week, then it started doing it again today and now completely no sound.  I have tried headphones and two different Dell sound bars and the sound doesn't work on any of them.  I have looked at settings and device manager and it says the 'Intel (R) Display Audio' is working correctly.

I have looked at different solutions, including downloaded the latest audio (Conexant Smart Audio Driver) and chip driver updates (12/15) and still no luck.  Can someone please help?

Inspiron One 19 - weird speakers issue

Hi
I have an old (out of warranty) Dell Inspiron One 19 which has an issue with the sound.  Basically everything looks normal, but there is no sound coming from it.  I gather its using Conexant Smart Audio and for some reason I only hear sounds if I "constantly change" the Speakers volume slider from the windows Notification Area Icons on the taskbar.  This is a windows 7 machine and it once had a BSOD death and after reinstalling windows (I've since lost the CD) this issue existed and has never gone away :)
So there is sounds if I keep changing the volume level but without doing that there is no sound!

G-r-e-a-t...  If anyone could suggest a solution I'd be happy to try out anything.  I tried using Puppy linux booted from a live CD and again there was no sound.  Same with Ubuntu 16.04 and 15.10.  Seems its just K-n-a-c-k-e-r-e-d.
Thanks

inspiron 660 audio out to audio interface

i'm trying to run a cable from my inspiron 660 audio out, back panel,  to audio interface, Presonus iTwo, which is connected via usb to a Mac Mini. But no audio is heard from the 660 when I listen via headphones on the Presonus iTwo. (I stream audio from the Mac Mini but I produce many live shows on my Inspiron 660, it's much easier to use the 660 as a production machine while the Mac is broadcasting live.) So my goal is to get live or prerecorded audio playing back to the Mac Mini via the line out on my 660. So far, no luck. What am I doing wrong?

TIA,

The Audio on the HDMI output on my XPS One 2720 doesn't work

I'm trying to setup my PC to output over the HDMI Out port to my TV. The video is sent fine, but no audio at all. I've checked it is not the TV, as other sources all output audio fine over HDMI (even my old Dell laptop).

I can see the TV as an option under Playback devices (when I right click the Sound icon in the system tray). However even setting this as the default playback device doesn't work. No sound is output over the HDMI Out jack it seems.

Any ideas?

I own a Inspiron 546 and would like to know if the HDMI port in the back will accommodate external speakers.  Can anyone recommend inexpensive speakers that connect with the Inspirion tower via HDMI?

power/iphone 6 connection

I finally got the speakers connected to my iPhone6, but no sound. I turned off speaker remote to start over, and the power won't come back on. I changed outlets, turned off bluetooth on my phone, nothing, no matter how long I hold down power button. The only thing I changed was unplugging the AV cord to the woofer....it wasn't connected to anything and I couldn't figure out what it was for. These speakers seem to be way more trouble than they are worth! And customer service isn't open on the weekends.

No Sound from Integrated chip on 7910

I bought a refurbished 7910 and could not get any sound from the front/rear jacks or the USB ports.

Ran all the extended bios tests, and when I ran sound, got no error, but no sound.  When I chose the input and output in windows, the vue meter would show differing sound levels for input and output, but nothing out the jacks or USB.

I went into device manager, and all software devices were ok, but I did not see any chip device (I believe I saw one in my old 7400).

Since the USB does not work, I do not think it is a jack issue.

I installed a sound blaster card and that works very well.

Any thoughts?

Inspiron 24 7459, how do I mute or turn down the volume?

$

ok so I've got myself a Inspiron 24 7459 which is a lovely computer. I've got no complaints. Just that how the <profane> am I supposed to turn down the volume or mute it completely when I'm using it? like when I'm using the computer you know it's easy stuff, but when I plug in my hdmi so that I can play my video game on my pc, it's loud as <profane>, you understand? So like I've found one way to fix it and it's to mute my computer entirely but, I've got music coming out of my Bluetooth speakers, I don't want to mute that too man. Btw just so we're clear right, this isn't a pc game I'm talking about, my pc has the option to switch to PC mode or hdmi, I'm playing the Wii u on this thing man.
