Dimension 8300 Windows 7 onboard audio now AOK!

When I upgraded my Dell Dimension 8300 to Windows 7 Pro32bit a couple years ago, according to everything I tried and googled, it was impossible to get the onboard audio ports working, as no drivers existed.

I'm posting the happy news that a few weeks back Windows Update rectified that, and now onboard audio IS working on my Dell Dimension 8300!

(I can't post details, sorry, since I don't see it in "Installed Updates".)

Equalizer on My Dell Desktop

When I bought my desktop about a year ago (Inspiron 3847 model), I could click on the Dell Audio app and get the Equalizer control with about 6 or so sliders to control the various tone ranges on my music sound.

Recently, I have lost ability to exercise that control.  Now, the word Equalizer does appear on my screen, but it is dead- does not respond.

How can I restore that control function?  Thanks i advance for help.

xps 8500 remove audio ports

The audio ports (back and top) of my xps 8500 stopped working after my dog yanked at the output cable to my external speakers which was plugged into one of the six rear ports.  Thinking the ports need replacing, I've opened the computer and tried to remove the audio port component from the motherboard, but it doesn't want to pull free.  Does anyone know how to remove the unit?  Can it be removed or is it integral to the motherboard? Thanks for your help.

Conexant Audio CX20641 driver for Win 10 64 bit - Inspiron 620

I've upgraded my Inspiron 620's OS to Win 10 a few months ago. There's no win 10 driver for its integrate audio (CX20641), so it keeps using the Win 7 driver from old OS.

It works fine until recent days, the audio has a low probability that suddenly become no sound, if I click the "test" button it will pop up an alert "The device is being used by another application".

A simple restart can fix this problem, and the frequency of this problem is low - once per 2~3 days.

I've googled it and found out people solve it by upgrading audio driver, however for the audio I'm using, I can't find a proper driver for Win 10 (CX20641).

Thanks for your help!

They were in the Alienware Audio screen where it says Maxx Audio Pro. There used to be an equalizer, and all kinds of different sound settings, like rock, pop etc etc. I haven't messed with it since I got the computer a year or so ago. I wanted to change the sound profile and it's missing!  No luck trying to find drivers.

What drivers do I need to install 5.1 surround sound? I have a logitech 5.1 speaker system with yellow, green and black and get only 2 speaker output. Isn't there some driver update that creates the 5.1 surround sound? I really miss the 5.1 sound for movies.

Thank you.

The laptop is totally new. It's delivered 2 days ago. Everything is fine until I find the sound issue.

The sound is working as I turn on the laptop, but if I restart the laptop, the sound is gone.
And if I shut down the laptop completely, then turn on the laptop again, the sound is working again.

Sound device is Conexant SmartAudio HD CX20722, OS: WIN10 home 64-bit

I have tried re-installation of the audio drivers which is download from the Dell website, reinstall WIN 10, and all other kinds of suggestions. But sadly they are all failed.

I am really appreciated anyone can help me with that. Thanks so much.

Dell Inspiron One 2350 can't change volume while on HDMI

$

Hi,

I seem to be having a problem where I can't change the volume on my Inspiron One 2350. This is when I am on my PS4 via a HDMI input. I am able to change the brightness perfectly fine but when it comes to volume, I am not able to change the level of volume at all. I have tried to completely shut down my computer and PS4 all together and start it up, and sometimes that would work or it won't.

This has been occurring for the last 2 months, I am hoping that there is a fix to this. There is a video below to show you what I am trying to show you. Hopefully this makes things more clearer.

XPS 8300 S/PDIF Toslink audio output needs enabling

XPS 8300 on WIndows 7 Home Premium. The Realtek High Definition Audio manager lists 3.5mm jack sockets for analogue audio in and out . It also shows the S/PDIF output on the rear for digital audio out.

While the analogue audio output works, the S/PDIF Toslink output has a continuous red signal light with no digital modulation. Linking it to digital input on a DAT audio machine shows no signal.

I've tried examining all device parameter selection options, but none that I have found brings up a Digital Output selection where I could enable S/PDIF. Anyone know what I am missing??

Thanks

Sound Card

Lost the sound from my Inspiron 660 with ZYLUX speakers. Nothing comes out of the jacks on the sound card neither thru the speakers or a headset though device manager says all is ok. Moving the jack on the computor in and out creates a crackle thru the speakers so I think speaker circuit is OK.Only sound cards Dell shows for this unit have terrible ratings. Any recommendations ?? Don't want to upgrade, just replace. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

AC511 Soundbar output level to high

$

I recently bought a Dell AC511 USB Soundbar. It was easy to set up work, works nicely. Looks good.

But... I think the output level is much to high. I always have it between 8 and 12. 14 and higher is to loud.

Most audio drivers have a level setting that can be used to tune the output level. For the AC511 driver, the level setting is equal to the main audio level of the PC, so changing the volume of the PC changes the level in the driver...

I also notice that the volume is not scaling. It would be nicer if the lower level more fine grained, make the higer levels use bigger steps. (logarithmic?)

I'm using Windows 10 Home.
