Inspiron 3646, front line-in, only two speakers work

Hi, I have Dell Inspiron 3646 with Logitech speakers 5.1 surround.  Running on windows 10.  Just the other day I noticed that only two speakers are producing sound when using internal stuff, like youtube, any streaming sites or any music files I have on the PC.

I have a turntable plugged in to the front panel mic slot and I get sound out of all speakers.  When I run the test all speakers have sound.  I have deleted the driver and reinstalled one from the Realtek website.  Still have the problem.  This might have been going on for a while and I just noticed, or it could have just happened when window 10 did and upgrade.

The driver that is running in Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.7544.

Hey all, So i've been fighting with my computer for hours tonight, I just cant seem to figure out what is going wrong here, I'm about to go crazy lol

I can't get audio to work at all, I'm getting no sound coming from my computer. Just a few days ago my audio was working perfectly fine.... I'll give you a list of whats wrong and everything I've tried, I have tried google searching and trying just about everything, to no avail.

Before I tried all of this, I did a full factory restore on my computer, just to make sure I didn't mess up some settings somewhere or something.. Which it was restored back to Windows 8.1. Still nothing had changed when i did a reset, I was getting the same error message as before.

My speaker icon in the bottom right displays a red "X" Icon, and when I double click the icon is says "Detecting Problems" Then pops up with "The peripheral does not appear to be plugged in. Check the connection.  Proceed to next step to finish." I've included a screenshot below.

I was told to update all my audio drivers, which I went to the dell website and downloaded the RealTek driver specifically for my inspirion, installed it then restarted my computer as prompted and it didn't fix it.

I was then told to uninstall all my audio drivers and restart my computer, which I just did, I included a screenshot below of what my audio drivers display now. Still no sound coming from my computer, still the same error message.

I was then told to press F2 at start up and check my BIOS to make sure my onboard sound was set to enabled, which it is. I pressed F9 to restore all defaults and then proceeded to boot my computer, still nothing changed.

If anyone could help me out with this I would be SO HAPPY! Thank you,

I Basic problem explained in the subject line.  Sometimes the power light goes on when I press it, sometimes it doesn't.  Bought the system back in March 2016.  Is this caused, as the trouble shooting part of the user manual says, a faulty power adapter?  If so, I guess mine is under warranty.  How do I return.

Audio issue

I have a Dell 8300 XPS that we purchased a while back. We are really pleased with the system and have not had any major problems. But lately it appears that our sound card or something is "shorting out". It is a Creative Technology X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM). I've updated all the latest drivers when suggested from Dell Support, Microsoft and all the results of my searches in the control panel say that it and all audio components are working correctly.

However it does sound beautifully for a while. The speakers are working and the sound stops abruptly with horrible sounding static, videos on social media are playing in slow motion and there is no sound only static. The only cure I've found is to restart the computer and the sound returns for several days then it "shorts out" again. I have searched the data base for possible cures but nothing seems to be working. I will be glad to post more info if needed to hopefully fix our computers sound. Any suggestions for a fix will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Audio sounds too thin on inspiron 7459!!

I have a dell inspiron 7459 all in one pc but it's audio quality seems a little poor.

It sounds thin as if it has no base, as people describe it, I don't hear any 'boom' effect when playing bass boosted songs,

Is the audio meant to be sounding thin like this?

Note: It has the Realtek HD Audio card and WaveMaxx Audio

Hi, I have a old DELL PC, basically Optiplex 620 with Pentium D (I know its ancient) I have installed windows 7 64 Bit on it with 4 GB of RAM and 200 GB harddisk , i usually use my PC for just school work/projects so i dont need any expensive PC or gaming ONE.

So the problem is that 2 days before the audio was going very well, I had Realtek ac'97 as the audio driver installed. And now its not woring, it is giving a code 10 error. I have reinstalled/unsinstalled/ even installed Sound Max and other drivers as well but all of them are giving the SAME error. After getting frustated I reinstalled Windows, but still I am getting this error, even after a fresh installation! I cannot guess what is the actual problem, because it was working FINE some days before. I have tried all the possible solutions, but cannot solve it out. I know its a ancient PC, but i hope so that some of the old experts would help me, Please!!

Dimension 8300 Windows 7 onboard audio now AOK!

When I upgraded my Dell Dimension 8300 to Windows 7 Pro32bit a couple years ago, according to everything I tried and googled, it was impossible to get the onboard audio ports working, as no drivers existed.

I'm posting the happy news that a few weeks back Windows Update rectified that, and now onboard audio IS working on my Dell Dimension 8300!

(I can't post details, sorry, since I don't see it in "Installed Updates".)

Headphone issues with OptiPlex 5040 model

We have been replacing workstations at our college with OptiPlex 5040s. We are running Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64. We use SCCM to image and have the latest Deploy OptiPlex 5040 Windows 8.1 Driver Pack loaded so the audio driver is current.

There have been many reports of students not getting audio from their headphones in the labs that have been upgraded to OptiPlex 5040 model. When I would head over to a lab and test a few random PCs (because the reports I was getting didn't include actual station designations), they would all work fine. I would plug in my 3.5mm plug earbuds and would get the audio popup asking what type of device I plugged in. Headphones is the default and so I would click "ok" and a few seconds later, the audio controls in the Windows taskbar would re-enable and sound would work fine through the headphones.

What I discovered was that if a student used USB headphones and then left the lab then another student comes in and plugs in 3.5mm headphones, they will not work unless the run the "troubleshoot sound problems" option from the task tray.

Anyone else experience this issue? Hopefully Dell is aware of this issue. All of our previous OptiPlex models had two audio ports (mic and headphone) and never seemed to have this issue.

Webcam Mic Problems

I think this started after the Win 10 Anniversary update.

I have all the updates and the latest drivers.

This is intermittent, but I'm having the problem more often than not at this point.

When the computer is booted up, the webcam mic does not work.  The sound device window shows that the webcam mic is set to default, and enabled, but it does not react to sound.  If I disable it, then re-enable it, it will work until the next reboot.

Hi everyone,

I have a Dell Inspiron 3647 that came with Windows 8.1 (i think). Then when the made everyone upgrade to Windows 10, I upgraded to that. Now I have the Anniversary Windows 10.

Now I do not know if I stopped getting audio between 8.1 or and the old 10. But I have not had sound coming from my computer since 2015. I only get audio from headphones or a speaker I have to plug in.

Any suggestions, thx in advance

Inspiron 24 7459 All-in-One random shut down

My three-month-old Inspiron 24 shuts down (no response from mouse, keyboard or touch screen) but the power light stays on. When I long press the power button to try to shut it down completely, the light turns red. I have to pull the power cord, wait a minute and then power back up, after which it seems fine. This has occurred three times in the last week.

Is it hardware or a software issue?

Can you help me get audio on my TV?

Hi there!

I have the Dell Desktop XPS 8500

Service Tag: <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

And got a slighter older LG TV. It has every connection under the sun except HDMI, so I used DVI to connect them. However, I found that there is no sound. So I got an RCA cable, Y Cable, and plugged into both the green plug on the back of the Dell and tried the speaker plug as well, to no avail.

Suggestions on how to get this to work?

Restoring Realtek HD Audio Manager/ Uninstalling or Disabling Alienware Audio

Hi,

Recently, I started getting problems with my audio on my alienware X51 R2 (I'm on windows 10). After a long time of searching for solutions all over the internet like on forums, I've come to the point where the only possible solution to my problem is using the realtek hd audio manager. The problem is: I can't access it on my alienware device since it is completely replaced by your poor version of it "Alienware Audio" wich does not have any of the options I need. How could I restore the original version of this software or at least disable the alienware audio version?

Missed The Wave ??????

Hello,

Just wondering if there is any Tech that can tell me W.T. heck happened to my Wave Maxx Audio EQ, I have a 5.1 surround sound system and I always had the EQ settings ( When I needed them ) but now the EQ has completely dis-appeared.

I went to my downloads page and the Wave Maxx isn't even there, I tried the Drivers and Downloads page several time for the driver that's there, went to the Realtek site tried that one several times, and also tried the download from File Hippo and no go, all seems fine with the sound except now when I need(want ) to use EQ it is not there anymore.

My System is the XPS 8500 SE white case purchased several years ago and I always had issues with this rig sense I bought it, That's a whole other story.

I'm trying to Like Dell again but it just keeps getting harder and harder, A solution would be nice or some good suggestions to Alt audio to get rid of the onboard audio.

OptiPlex 780, audio crackles

I bought it refurbished for $200.  It's working great and even overclocks in bios.  There is this thing about it though that it strange sometimes.  The audio crackles.  I'm presently not experiencing this from my rear port where it does it but it might do it again later.  The front port works odd, only one speaker works; the right one.  Also, my onboard speaker stopped working.  I'm going to keep this computer most likely when I buy a new one.  It's a 2.99 Ghz Core, the one I have right now.

Mic input is coming through the speakers.

When I plug a mic into the mic jack, the sound comes out the speakers.

I know what you're going to say...  Uncheck "Listen to this device" for the mic.  Well, it's already unchecked.  I doesn't matter if it's checked or unchecked, the sound comes over the speakers.

I'm becoming one frustrated Windows 10 user over this and the USB mic problems [8o|]

This is on an Inspiron 660 runing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
